The what and why.

Your Library Card

Who can get a card?
 All City of Giddings residents will be issued a library card free of charge.  All residents of Lee County not residing within the limits of the City of Giddings will be charged $2.00.  Anyone residing out of Lee County will be charged $10.00.  Library cards are renewable every two years.  A replacement fee of $2.50 will be charged for all lost cards.  Students and teachers residing out of Lee County that are enrolled/employed in the Giddings Independent School District are eligible to receive a library card for $2.00, as long as that patron remains in the Giddings Independent School District.  Tex-Share card can be obtained at this library, giving patrons free access to libraries and their services throughout Texas.  Ask staff for details.

How to Get Your Card
To get a library card present your ID with your current address.  Librarians will issue library cards.

Borrowing Limits

Items are checked out for a two-week period.  Check-out limits are as follows:  Adults -- 4 hardcover books, 10 paperback books and 6 magazines (periodicals); Students -- 3 hardcover books, 2 paperback books and 2 magazines; Teachers -- 10 hardcover books, 10 paperback books and 6 magazines.  (Audios, Videos, DVDs & CDs count as hardbacks.

Placing Holds
Patrons may request a title be placed on hold if it is not currently available.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items
Library materials may be rechecked for an additional two weeks as long as items are not late.  You may call or come by in person.  If we are closed, please leave a message to renew your books with your name and library card number.  Reserved books may not be rechecked.

Library Fines
Overdue items are $.25 a day per item.  Patrons are required to pay for damaged or lost library materials.  Parents or guardians are responsible for the fines and/or damages incurred by their child/children.  Patrons with overdue items and/or fines will not be allowed to check out any materials until items are returned and fines are paid.
