Memorial purchases

Many in our community choose to commemorate loved ones through the purchase of books at the Giddings Public Library. Below, you'll find all the information you need to purchase books in memory of someone.

Complete the online form

The online form gives us all the details we need to purchase books and create the inscription placed inside all memorial books. It also calculates your memorial contribution based on the number of books you'd like to purchase. Click here to access the form directly.

Submit your payment

Memorials may be purchased with cash, check, or credit card. The online form gives specific details for each form of payment.

If desired, notify your loved ones

The library does not notify individuals when a memorial contribution has been received; however, if you stop by the library, we'll provide you a memorial card and envelope for mailing.

The library orders and processes books

Please be advised that purchasing, processing, and cataloging memorial books can take up to two months. Once memorial books are added to the collection, you can find them by searching our catalog here.

Memorial FAQ


Can I choose the books I want you to purchase? Yes. we encourage you to select book titles you feel would be appropriate for your memorial contribution. We can purchase most hardcover books for $25.  The form contains a field for you to enter your preferred book titles. 


What if the library's suppliers don't have the books I choose? We'll do our best to find the book titles you suggest. If we cannot locate your suggested titles through our suppliers, we'll substitute your suggestion with a book we've already scheduled for addition to the collection.  


What if I don't want to select the books? If you choose not to suggest book titles, the library will purchase books already scheduled for addition to the collection, with no regard for theme, author, subject matter, etc.


Can I pay online? Yes. Just select "online payment" as your payment option when you complete the form.


Can I just pay cash? Yes. First complete the online form, and then visit the library at 276 N. Orange St. in Giddings, Texas, to pay in cash. Your memorial books will be scheduled for purchase after the library receives your payment.


Will you accept a check? Yes. First complete the online form then make your check payable to the Giddings Public Library, and write "Memorial" in the memo line. Mail your check to: Giddings Public Library & Cultural Center | 276 N. Orange St. | Giddings, Texas 78942. Your memorial books will be scheduled for purchase after the library receives your payment.


What does the inscription look like? Each inscription contains the name of the donor and the person in whose honor the books were purchased. We print the inscription on a label and affix it to the cover page of each memorial book. A sample inscription appears below.
