The Texas Word Wrangler Writing Contest is produced in conjunction with the Texas Word Wrangler Book Festival. The contest ends Sept. 2, 2025. The contest is open to all K-12 students who live in Lee County or attend school in Lee County during the 2025-2026 school year. (All Lee County students are eligible whether they attend public school, private school, or home school.)

Writing topic

This year's writing topic will invite students to create their own adventure using the guidelines below. The online contest entry form contains details about the required word count for each age division.

Students in Kindergarten - 3rd grades:  You are the main character of your own fairy tale. Tell us about your big adventure.

Students in 4th-12 grades:  You are the main character of a folktale, fairy tale, myth, legend, or role-playing game. Create your own epic quest.

Students who win first place will be be invited to read their winning entries during the book festival Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025!
